S.M.A.K. is our brand new take away café, located in the newly-renovated community building at Johannaberg campus. The name, which translates to ‘taste’ in English, stands for and summarises the concept requested by both students and employees for this new venture, namely; Samhällsbyggnad – Miljö – Arkitektur – Kafé, which can be translated as community building - environment – architecture - café.

S.M.A.K. will provide a wide range of conventional café fare including coffee and assorted beverages, cakes, sandwiches, salads, ice cream, hot dishes and of course our self-produced Go Fresh range. The cafe is designed to be focussed on sustainability and will achieve this by, for example,

• Branding all of our hot dishes with a calculated CO2 emission. This is intended to inform guests and employees about the environmental impact of each meal as well as, in the long term, to provide more sustainable food.
• Offering our guests the opportunity to purchase food in a stainless steel box utilising a smart deposit system, helping to reduce material consumption.
• Operating in accordance with our certification from the Swedish Environmental Base (Svensk Miljöbas). To this end, we have implemented an environmental management system as required by Svensk Miljöbas. This system provides an effective tool that allows us to operate in a more sustainable manner and reduce the environmental impact of our business.

S.M.A.K. is open from August 14^th with regular hours of 07:45 to 16:30 during weekdays in term time.
